a mobile friendly about

My name is Cas and I’ve had this tumblr since . late middle school? oof.

I’m 24

that being said a lot of opinions and interests change over that amnt of time and i rarely fuck with opinions i had from even a year or two ago. I don’t really have an opinion abt discourses i mightve used to, i’m just too tired. you do you as long as you aren’t hurting anyone. [this does not apply to freaks]

Don’t call me slurs , idc what u do but dont refer to me as any type of slur

My pronouns are he/him or they/them, I don’t have a strong preference one way or the other [im nonbinary] [im a lesbian]

im white/mexican mixed, i have a complicated relationship w it. I’m white passing

I’m usually sick in bed. im an ambulance wheelchair user and i often use a cane when i have to be on my feet

i have a lot of physical and mental problems stemming from chronic lyme disease that went untreated for a decade. it so far refuses to respond to treatments. I take IV antibiotics on and off through the port in my chest. main issues are severe fatigue, muscle pain/spasms, arthritis, POTs ( Postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome), among other things like recurring coinfections and symptoms I dont like discussing publicly. I have a port in my chest that allows me to take IV antibiotics which I do take on and off depending on the month.

Update: got diagnosed with Antiphospholipid syndrome. Which is an autoimmune disorder having to do with the blood.

btw grown white people projecting their racist inadequacies and issues on to nonwhite children is a well documented phenomena. like in schools, in daycares, in after school programs, and summer camps, and sports teams. every grown black and brown person has had at least ONE traumatizing experience with a white adult when they were a child.

not to derail but this is also true

image

that moment when you erase the perspective of specific people because you want to be included so bad and prove a nonexistent point and remove focus off of black and brown people and generalize all peoples issues under the same struggle when its fucking not the same struggle and we need specific focus on specific groups due to the fact that specific groups face specific issues in specific ways that cant be lumped in with white people and youre racist

went to that person’s blog because i wanted to know how old they are and was greeted with this… does anyone know what youthlib means?

Also self care SUCKS most of the time. Like it’s not fun at all. It’s doing the stuff you don’t want to, like cleaning your room, submitting that form, going to the gym that first time, having that conversation you avoided or making that call. It’s doing stuff that lets you unwind and stop worrying, and most of the time, that involves confronting and overcoming something you really would rather avoid.

The haunting words of Dr. Refaat al-Areer, who has been killed today by Israel in Gaza.

“I’m an academic. Probably the toughest thing I have at home is a marker. But if the Israelis invade, charge at us door to door to massacre us, I’m going to use that marker and throw it at the soldiers. Even if that’s the last thing I am able to do.”

What’s going on in the congo rn is one of many many reasons that the right to repair is a VITAL tenant in leftism imo

At this point smartphones, laptops, and other similar devices are necessary for daily life in the US. Like if I did not have a phone and a laptop, I couldn’t hold down a job, it would be extremely difficult to access public transportation, my education depended upon my ability to access the internet, etc. Tech companies know that their products are indispensable. So do they make products that last? No of course not, they need you buying a new device every two years. That just makes sense under capitalism. But ofc this system spreads far beyond our borders; this system of planned obsolescence is supported by the plunder of the global south for lithium (like in Bolivia) and cobalt (like in Congo).

The imperialist extraction of resources could be challenged if, say, we could repair a device rather than needing to purchase a new one. Companies like apple know this, and have gone out of their way to make such things impossible just to continue making shit products for too much money. It sucks!

can i ask for some reading about what’s going on in Congo and how it’s related to cobalt mining?

Here’s an article that will give you an overview:
